A Look at Kiva.org
Peter Brinckerhoff mentioned the organization Kiva.org several times in his presentations. Here's a closer look.
The global micro-lending organization was started as a side project by computer programmer Matt Flannery and his wife Jessica in 2004. The couple decided to "change the world, one loan at a time."
From Jessica's bio on the Kiva site: "Jessica first saw the power and beauty of microfinance while working in rural Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda with Village Enterprise Fund and Project Baobab on impact evaluation and program development."
From Matt's bio: "As CEO, Matt has led Kiva.org's growth from a pilot project
to an established online service with partnerships across the globe
and millions in dollars loaned to low income entrepreneurs."
