Executive Director Mentoring

Executive Directors, especially those new to their position often experience the "it's lonely at the top syndrome." The mentoring program will create a safe atmosphere for Executives to voice their thoughts and ideas about the direction of their organization and find creative ways to determine how best to deal with challenging situations, such as working with difficult employees, ensuring a culture that reflects organizational values and high standards, working with your board to improve its effectiveness, and producing sustained results based on core ideology.

Expected outcomes of this service include:

  • Greater job satisfaction
  • Improved ability to achieve goals
  • Greater awareness of useful resources
  • Increased support in decision making
  • New techniques for managing the many aspects of the ED job

The Mentoring Package is offered in three (3) month and six (6) month packages.

Each package includes:

  • One-on-one mentoring sessions for six hours total per month
  • Up to two hours of additional phone contact per month (initiated by mentee)

Space is limited to 5 Executive Directors at any given time.

Program Cost:

Total Cost of Package for 3 months: $1200
Total Cost of Package for 6 months:  $2000

Mentor: Diana Strzok:

The Foraker Group is pleased to have Diana Strzok as a consultant providing d Executive Director Mentoring. Diana has over 30 years experience working for nonprofits, 24 of those years as an executive director both in a small rural agency serving a large area of Northern Wisconsin and in a large entrepreneurial nonprofit in Anchorage with 450+ employees working out of 10 different locations.  Diana received an undergraduate degree is Sociology with an emphasis in Social Work and she holds a Masters in Business Administration.  Diana's community involvement currently includes serving on a nonprofit board and on two statewide disability related committees. She is also a Rotarian and part of a Women's Investment Group.  Diana is interested in supporting nonprofits to become stronger, healthier organizations that are seen as 'employers of choice' delivering excellent services to their clients and the community. For the past four years, Diana has mentored Executive Directors and senior management staff in a variety of nonprofits including: disability and housing organizations, Native corporations, environmental groups, a hospital setting and a retreat center. 

Advanced CEO Mentoring

Do you often wish you had a safe and confidential space to talk with an experienced leader in your field?  Do you want to gain new insights into your own working style?  Do you want to exchange ideas on leading staff and partnering with your board?  The Foraker Group is pleased to announce a new advanced executive director mentoring Program for seasoned professionals working for established nonprofits. 

The mentoring program will create a safe atmosphere for Executives to voice their thoughts and ideas about the direction of their organization and find creative ways to determine how best to deal with challenging situations, such as working with difficult employees, ensuring a culture that reflects organizational values and high standards, working with your board to improve its effectiveness, and producing sustained results based on core ideology.

  • Development and enrichment of leadership skills
  • Greater job satisfaction
  • Improved ability to achieve goals
  • Greater awareness of useful resources
  • Increased support in decision making
  • New techniques for managing the many aspects of the CEO job

Each package includes:

  • One-on-one mentoring sessions for six hours total  per six months
  • Up to one hour of additional phone contact per month (initiated by mentee)
  • Identified opportunities to meet with other CEO's in the program for networking and discussion.

Program Cost:

The Mentoring Package is offered in three (3) month and six (6) month packages.

  • Total Cost of Package for 6 months: $2000

Mentoring is available by invitation only. Space is limited to 5 CEO's at any given time.

Mentor: Leslie Ellis, President/CEO Credit Union 1:

The Foraker Group is pleased to have Leslie Ellis as the lead mentor.  Leslie has served as President/CEO of Credit Union 1 for 25 years. At a recent ceremony for her tenured service Roger Aldrich, Credit Union 1 Board of Directors Chairman credited Leslie with the credit union's continued growth and success. "It is her insight, passion and commitment to our values that has gotten us to where we are today and will lead us into tomorrow," said Aldrich. Leslie is an active board member for a variety of Alaska nonprofits, a philanthropist and an active community volunteer.  Credit Union 1 is Alaska's second largest financial cooperative, with a mission to help members achieve their financial goals by focusing on excellent service and value.
