The Alaska Giving Coalition is an affiliation of nonprofit organizations, Alaska Funders, and individuals who are interested in working together to grow philanthropy in Alaska. The Coalition seeks to provide an opportunity to grow giving in Alaska by coming together as a group to do something larger than what any one of our organizations or individuals can do alone. Our hope is that each organization will continue to work actively in their own right on activities that grow philanthropy and also come to the table to work with the whole coalition.

Anyone interested in working collaboratively can join the coalition either as an active volunteer on one of the five taskforces or by simply staying informed about the Coalition activities by joining our mailing list. • Encouraging more people to become donors
• Raising the level of awareness about the power of giving for Alaskan communities

Core Values of the Coalition

• Inclusion: Everyone can be a philanthropist. The coalition is about choice and making giving accessible. It is about your commitment and responsibility to give back to your community. There is a place at the table for everyone.
• Urban/Rural Inclusion: Our state is enriched by our diversity of urban and rural. there are differences in culture. The coalition efforts must be culturally competent and relevant.. We must define and use common language.
• Collaborations: We are working from a model of abundance not limitation. the potential for philanthropic growth is unlimited. The efforts of the coalition are for the greater good, not for a single organizational gain. It isn't about where you give its about why you give. Its about creating opportunities for social investment.
• Community Impact: The coalitions work is long-term (at least 10 years). Creating and enhancing a culture of giving is the long term outcome.
• Sustainability: Working toward our efforts means taking into account our level of unrestricted dollars to do the work of the coalition, having a high level of human capacity both in terms of coordination, implementation and leadership. There must be trust, transparency and communication to form a balance between and among the partners. We must be focused in our efforts and we must collaborate with one another.
