Essentials of Good Governance - Part I & II
A high performing board is the source of a thriving mission. Energize and strengthen your board with this two-part training intensive:
Essentials of Good Governance: Training Intensive – Part I
This session provides an overview of the roles and responsibilities of a high performing board
- including legal responsibility, philanthropy, planning, financial oversight, strategic relationships and partnering with the executive director as an advocate and ambassador for the organization. We will also cover the traits of a successful board leader, and the role of officers of the board.
April 10 from 5:30 - 8:30 pm at Fairbanks Food Bank
Essentials of Good Governance: Training Intensive – Part II
In this session we will cover recruiting and retaining board members, operating with clear job descriptions, how to run an effective board meeting, including the appropriate use of a consent agenda, ways to effectively reach a decision, the role of committees in maximizing “face-time” at a board meeting, and the key differences between staff and board responsibilities before, during and after a meeting.
May 16 from 5:30 - 8:30 pm at Fairbanks Food Bank
This training intensive offers important lessons for you whether you are a well-seasoned or first-time board member and is also useful for leadership staff that work directly with the board. At the end of the program, you will have earned a Certificate of Completion and will be more prepared to guide your nonprofit in achieving its mission.
