Financial Statements for Beginners

If you can read the nutrition label on a can of peaches or cheer at a football score board, you can learn to read basic financial statements. If you can follow a recipe or apply for a credit card, you can learn basic accounting principles. Financial statements are the report card of business. As a nonprofit leader or board member you are required to keep track of the organizations finances. You need to understand how to read, analyze, and create financial statements so you can get a full and accurate understanding of how much money there is, how much debt is owed, the income coming in each moth, and the expenses going out the door. This class provides a quick review of how to do all of that.  Basic financials aren’t difficult to learn and they certainly aren’t rocket science.
