Job Description
See Stories’ Development & Grants Manager will spend 50% of their time working collaboratively with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and staff members to develop and implement a comprehensive development strategy aligned with See Stories’ short- and long-term strategic goals. The other 50% of their role will focus on Grants Administration, and they will be responsible for coordinating the development, administrative management, reporting and closeout of grants. The Development & Grants Manager reports to the Executive Director. This position is funded for the next 3 years, with room for growth and/or expansion. This is a full-time salaried position, exempt from overtime pay.
~50% of your time will be spent on Development as follows:
- In concert with the Executive Director and Board of Directors, develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan to meet the organization’s annual revenue and long-term strategic goals.
- The Development Manager, together with the Executive Director, is responsible for developing and implementing fundraising strategies and targets.
- Identify, cultivate, and steward all current and prospective donors.
- Identify and cultivate corporate and foundation donors. Secure corporate sponsors for programs and events.
- Develop grant proposals to secure funding from corporations, private foundations, and government entities.
- Manage the annual fund drive, capital campaign, and other unique campaigns.
- Plan and execute special events that engage donors and raise funds for the organization.
- Develop and execute effective donor communications and marketing materials using our bloomerang platform, including print and digital media.
- 'Monitor and analyze fundraising data to evaluate performance and adjust strategies as needed.
- Report monthly to the Board of Directors
- Participate in the budget process and stay aware of the current budget as it applies to development, accounting for any variances regularly.
~50% of your time will be spent on Grant Administration as follows:
- Implement, streamline, and evaluate grants administration processes;
- Screen grant applications and reporting materials for completeness
- Record all grantmaking activities with accuracy using online grants management system;
- Track and review drawdowns and reports due, and liaise with staff on report writing
- Maintain and update grantmaking procedure manuals and grant cycle timelines
Qualification and Experience:

- B.A. required, M.A. a plus
- Three or more years of development/fundraising experience, including donor relations, and grantsmanship
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong administrative, reporting, and record-keeping skills
- Available to work evenings and weekends for events and meetings and to travel locally and regionally.
- Deep commitment to the organization’s mission and values
