We are grateful for a thoughtful and dedicated community of nonprofit leaders. Thank you for making our first-ever virtual Leadership Summit a place of reflection and learning. Together, we are creating a stable, resilient, and adaptive Alaska!

How will you take the concepts you learned back to your organization? For starters, you can log back into Whova for the next 3 months (until July 31) to watch the recorded sessions and download the handouts. We encourage you to review what you have learned with your team – board and staff.

Here are some additional ways you can continue to connect and integrate what you’ve learned:

  • Executive Directors – join us for the next CEO Connect. We offer this safe space to connect quarterly. Sessions are facilitated to offer support, share knowledge and best practices, and learn from the wisdom in the room. The next one is scheduled for July 14.
  • Next gen leaders – join us for Lead Up! – a program designed for those who are in nonprofit management roles or want to lead in an organization but are not yet executive directors. The next cohort will start this fall, dates TBD.
  • Looking for more opportunities for personal reflection? Consider applying for the Catalyst for Nonprofit Excellence program. You’ll have an opportunity to expand on what you learned about leading from choice with Guy Le Masurier of Be More U AND what you learned about coaching from Marvin Chambers. Let us know if you would like a special notification when the application process opens.
  • Want to dive deeper into the topics of finance, human resources, board development, and more? Our Certificate in Nonprofit Management program is designed to immediately apply what you learn in class to your workplace. Those who are currently in leadership roles and who have the ability to influence positive change within the organization will receive the most value from the program. The next cohort will be this fall, date TBD. You can also learn more in smaller bites from our wide-ranging community classes. Check back for our fall offerings.
  • Do you have more questions on COVID relief and recovery? We’ll be hosting more free webinars (coming soon!) to help leaders decide on the type of workplace that best serves their mission and staff – remote, in-person, or a hybrid – and things to consider when asking your staff to return to work. We also want to hear from you about how COVID has affected your organization – be sure to take our survey here.
  • Participate in our Advocacy in Action calls. Every other month, Mike Walsh, Foraker’s Vice President of Public Policy, hosts a dialogue on issues affecting the sector. Mark your calendars for June 11 at 9:00 am. for the next call.
  • If you participated in the People of Color Roundtable with Kishshana Palmer and are looking for more ways to connect with nonprofit leaders of color, Foraker’s Director of Sultana, Kimberly Waller, will be hosting more opportunities to engage. Stay tuned for dates.
And the winners are…
Congratulations to all the winners of our conference awards. Denali Whiting with Kawerak won the photo contest with a beautiful photo from Kotzebue. Erika Chambers with CCS Early Learning won the Whova leaderboard for being the most engaged on the conference platform. Each of them won a Foraker goodie bag that includes a Foraker mug, Focus on Sustainability book, and an hour of free consulting or a free Foraker class.

As for the Conference Spark Award – we ran a version of that picker wheel twice (oops!) so we had two “sparky” people win – Mary Wagner with Providence Alaska Foundation and James Harris with Nine Star Enterprises helped us all to think differently and inspired us with their willingness to share at the conference. After we realized our mistake, we ran the Agility Award picker wheel and Amy Simonds Taylor with Juneau Youth Services won for her ability to navigate the pandemic and to creatively find ways to continue to serve young people. Each of them won a round-trip Alaska Airlines voucher. Congratulations to all!
