Since our founding, we’ve had the honor of partnering with tribes and tribal organizations across a wide range of activities—from strategic planning and organizational development to finance and governance support. As part of deepening that work, we’re launching a new page on our website to highlight just a few examples of how we collaborate with tribal leaders in ways that reflect their values, priorities, and visions for the future. How might we work with your tribe? Here are just a few of the ways that partnership has taken shape:
— A regional Alaska Native education foundation invited us to help bring their board and team into deeper alignment with their mission—asking what it truly means to steward resources for future generations. How might their existing structure support more meaningful opportunities for mentorship, career pathways, and internships?
— In Southcentral Alaska, a tribal council asked for guidance in shaping a strategic plan that reflected their commitment to sacred places, cultural learning, and community wellness. They envisioned a space where people could learn their language, access counseling, prepare traditional foods, and practice subsistence together. Could they define clear goals that would guide both short-term action and long-term success?
— A coalition of tribes, united around the goal of self-determination and natural resource management, sought a shared vision for engaging in fisheries. What would it look like to operate through a lens of sovereignty while building partnerships, identifying funding, and creating opportunities that might even draw people back to their homelands?
— An Alaska Native resource council, operating internationally to co-manage traditional hunting and subsistence rights, reached out for support during a leadership transition. With the future of sustainable species management and government-to-government relationships in mind, could we help guide them through the process of hiring a new executive director?
